As part of Sheffield Steel Rollergirls' 2016 community responsibility commitment the league voted to fundraise, build awareness for and generally be the champions of the following local charities doing great thing in Sheffield: The Homeless Period and VIDA.
As part of this pledge as a league we'll be using the May 14th Double Feature to help build awareness for the The Homeless Period ahead of their June campaign launch. See details below.
We’re proud to support The Homeless Period as one of our charities for this year.
For homeless people who menstruate, it really is that dreaded time of the month. With limited or no access to sanitary products, they're often forced to go without these basic yet essential items. Homeless shelters get an allowance every year to buy items like condoms, but still nothing for sanitary products. For more information, and to sign the petition to help change this, see http://thehomelessperiod.com/
To help the project’s work in Sheffield, at our bout this Saturday we’ll be collecting donations of boxed pads and tampons. You can buy a pack for less than £1 in
supermarkets! Every donation makes a real difference, so why not grab a pack (or two!) between games!
