As firm supporters of the #ThisGirlCan and #MoveMoreSheffield campaigns, Sheffield Steel Junior Rollers are both body champions and gender advocates and have made it the mission for the Junior League to widen the opportunities for children and young people to be involved in sporting activity, redefining what it means to be an athlete and making it more inclusive to all genders, all ages and all abilities and body types.
As part of the launch of our junior league we are pleased to be able to offer three free taster sessions to launch the Junior League training Programme. All three sessions will take place at the Sheffield International Venue managed venue of Springs Leisure Centre, and be delivered by Disclosure and Barring Service ( DBS ) checked coaches.^
- Quad skates
- Knee pads
- Elbow pads
- Wrist guards
- Mouth guard
For health & safety reasons we also recommend parents purchase their own helmets, and for and hygiene reasons we are not be able to loan mouth guards* ( after all who would really want to share a mouth guard?). Please note that well-maintained derby equipment does hold its value very well, allowing owners to resell items easily as your child grows out of equipment. Once established, we would hope parent's of junior league skates would naturally self-organise to create a market place for the location an transfer of second hand junior roller derby kit. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or to check the availability of our loan kit.
If you're a parent's/ guardians or carers wanting to know more information before signing your pre-teen or teenager we encourage you to join one of the Parent's Meet & Greet evenings events taking place Wednesday from 7:15 at Ponds Forge throughout January. You're welcome to stay for 10 minute or the whole 90 minutes. No need to book, just turn up and a member of planning committee will be on hand to answer any questions that you might have.
