This was the first tournament weekend for the Sheffield Steel All Stars, and with so many other great teams competing such as: London Rockin Rollers, Auld Reekie Rollergirls, Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz, and Leeds Roller Dolls; they were in for a treat.
In the first bout of the day, the Sheffield Steel Rollergirls All Stars faced off to Leeds Roller Dolls and in their second bout later that afternoon, they took on the Auld Reekie Rollergirls. Both bouts resulted in losses for the Sheffield Steel All Stars with impressive scores of 217– 55 to Leeds, and 224–39 to Auld Reekie Rollergirls.
Both bouts were tough to match for the All Stars, but even through the losses they never stopped smiling, as Chaos on the Clyde was such a great experience and the team are grateful to Glasgow Rollergirls to have been invited to take part.
The final of the tournament saw the Glasgow Irn Bruisers take on Leeds Roller Dolls in a tension-building bout that saw the Bruisers to victory with a final score of 194–82. Both teams seemed evenly matched in pack ability and jammer skill in the first half, making for an incredibly tough time for jammers Hardcore Prawn and Lawless of the Irn Bruisers, and Lexi Lightspeed and Cecee of Leeds Roller Dolls, working their way through the pack.
It was only just before the second half that saw the Glasgow Irn Bruisers pull the score away from Leeds and consistently maintain the lead throughout the second.
As a first ever tournament hosted by Glasgow Roller Derby, Chaos on the Clyde was a fantastic weekend that saw amazing jamming skill and phenomenal pack work, hosted by a great bunch of rollergirls who were excellent hosts. They made Sheffield Steel Rollergirls feel incredibly welcome, and the organization (and bout music!) of the weekend was ace. SSRG tip their hats to you, for a job well done ladies!
