I saw it on Facebook after one of our skaters posted it in our min skills group. It cost £20.
I felt like I was on the brink of making a breakthrough with my skating, and that the bootcamp was part way through our mins testing period so I thought it would help me out. Also it's really easy to get to the Thunderdome. I went with two other SSRG pre-mins.
There was about 25 or 30 skaters and 4 coaches (2 main coaches and 2 helpers).
It started at 11 and finished at 4, so 5 hours with a 40 minute lunch. We worked on laps, crossovers, transitions, in the morning, did 27 in 5 before lunch, then blocking stuff in the afternoon (laterals, lateral hitting, other hitting, whips, pushes).
I took 2 bottles of Lucozade Sport plus water. Lunch was giant couscous with mustard, avocado, halloumi and red pepper, plus a couple of cereal bars.
A 40 minute lunch break plus water breaks. The coaches also took time to explain things which meant quite a lot of rest breaks in between skills.
I learned a different way to do laterals, that SSRG test tough (which is a good thing!) and that I don't suck!! And that it's always good to get different perspectives on things. I learnt that my endurance is much better than I thought it was. I loved meeting pre-mins from different leagues and trying stuff with new people.
I feel great!! It made me realise how much progress I've made since I started [May 2015]. All of the endorphins! The coaches were so supportive and the day was well structured. In some ways instead of learning new things it just cemented my skills which feels good. I would absolutely do it again and I would strongly recommend it to all pre-mins. There were people of all skill levels and everyone worked together really well.
